Five days…

In five days I’ll be crossing the Atlantic. I’m going to fly into San Francisco via Chicago and St. Louis. It will take me approximately seventeen hours from boarding in Dublin to landing in San Fran. With me will be two bags of clothes, books, DVDs, various other bits of crap I’ve accumulated over the years and a large surfboard. These represent (with the exception of a snowboard to follow) the total amount of earthly possessions to be transplanted with me to California. In the next five days I have to figure out what those various bits and pieces are, have to transfer as much stuff onto a hard drive as I can manage, have to sell a car and probably lots of stuff I haven’t thought of yet.

I’m moving across the water in order to start work with a memory module manufacturer as a technical support engineer. That’s right, I’m going to have a real job! A career even if I dare to call it that. I know, I never thought I’d see the day either. Anyhoo, when I got the call asking if I’d be interested in making the move, I thought about it for about ten minutes. My though process went something like – “Hmmm…Sunny weather, good job, easy access to great surfing and snowboarding…okay!”

So here I am procrastinating instead of organising myself for the move. Better go off and buy some stuff I’m gonna need!
