Waits for Christmas…

Jim Carroll of the Irish Times is picking up on Adam Maguire’s campaign to put Tom Waits’ “Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis” to the mythical Christmas Number One slot in Ireland. It’ll sure make a change from The Spice Girls, Bob the Builder and more importantly – The X Factor winner. You know, the as-yet-unkown artist singing the as-yet-unkown song that is virtually guaranteed the number one spot in Britain and Ireland, only for the as-yet-unkown artist to fade into oblivion again. All the fun of the race for Christmas number one has been taken away by the one-hit-wonder generating media machine that is the x-factor. Well it’s time to put a stop to it. Download ‘Christmas Card…’ from Apple iTunes, Eircom Music Club, 02 Napster, Vodafone or Easymusic between now and next Thursday to have it qualify for chart position. Go on, make a little Christmas musical miracle happen!
